In Memoriam
 Dominick Dunne 1925
- 2009
The National Center for Victims of Crime board of directors and staff mourn the passing of
our friend and indefatigable supporter Dominick Dunne, who died on August 26, 2009, after a
lengthy illness.
Dominick was a passionate voice for crime victims for more than 25 years. When his
daughter Dominique was murdered in 1982 and her killer sentenced to prison for only a few years,
Dominick learned firsthand how the U.S. justice system often fails victims of crime.
His family's tragedy launched his career as a chronicler of American justice and high-profile
trials, his friendship with National Center founders Ala von Auersperg Isham and Alexander
Auersperg, and his years of service on the National Center board.
At its June 2009
Leadership Awards program, the National Center for Victims of Crime was
honored to present Dominick Dunne with its Lifetime Achievement
Award for his courageous advocacy on behalf of crime victims.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Dominick's family as
we celebrate Dominick's life and honor the contributions of one of the
country's strongest voices for crime
victims.
