Emerging Childhood
Victimization
Issues
Monday, September 13,
2010 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Children are one of the most highly
victimized segments of the population. Current data reports that
about one in three youth are victimized through either direct or
indirect exposure to violence or neglect. This pre-conference Institute
will provide an overview of cutting-edge research, best practice system
responses, and evidence-supported interventions in various types of
childhood victimization, and model a holistic multidisciplinary approach
to understanding and addressing emerging childhood victimization issues.
Through experiential learning exercises, national experts will guide
participants in reframing common longstanding systemic beliefs about
childhood exposure to victimization and to develop a new framework for
addressing child and youth victimization in a more collaborative and
effective way.
